DC Technologies working for welike.com – the new social entertainment discovery channel.

What's the connection between Celine Dion, The Killers, Rihanna and AC/DC and Martin Scorsese, Clint Eastwood, Audrey Tatou and Brad Pitt? What do Thomas Mann, Charlotte Roche, Paul Auster, John Irving and The Wall from Pink Floyd have in common? welike.com is the new social entertainment discovery network, which offers the usual features of a social community portal as well as personal cross-medial recommendations for music, films and books.

In addition to wide ranging background information and multimedia content, the portal also offers up-to-date information on artists, authors, actors and directors. The DX-C asset management system developed by Digital Collections is the system in use. It collects and semantically classifies entertainment news from over 100 relevant sources. This ensures that related news stories are displayed on every Welike profile. With over 300,000 detailed pages on artists, films and book, it would be impossible for an editorial team alone to look after all the pages. Thanks to Digital Collections technology, welike can automatically display stories from blogs and news pages on its pages. 'This has created huge added value for our users,' says welike Managing Director Björn Mathes.

Digital Collections has been able to demonstrate how one can expand online content with relatively little effort by using this simple and fast integration of automated celebrity news from RSS sources. Suitable systems can be up and running in less than a few hours and can be connected to existing frameworks or content management systems via simple web interfaces.
